  WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
  Any business type can benefit

The RETROFIT PROGRAM is for owners and managers of commercial buildings, institutional buildings, industrial facilities, agribusinesses and multi-residential buildings. Incentives are available for replacing inefficient equipment with high-efficiency equipment. The amount of the incentive is based on the difference between the amount of electricity the equipment currently uses and the amount that the new equipment will use. Typically, retrofit projects also help reduce maintenance costs.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW IN ADVANCE?

Icon Get your project pre-approved before making any changes
RETROFIT PROGRAM incentives are based on your estimated energy savings. To verify these savings, we may need to do a site visit to inspect your old equipment. It’s important that you not remove or demolish any equipment that you want to be part of the project. Even before signing a purchase order, make sure your project is approved.

To qualify, all projects must be pre-approved.
Icon   Upgrade to qualifying T8 LEDs
Currently there are three types of T8 LED replacement lamps available:
  • UL Type A operate using existing fluorescent electronic ballasts
  • UL Type B require line voltage to be wired directly to the fluorescent fixtures sockets
  • UL Type C require external dedicated drivers
As of December 7th 2015, only UL Type A and Type C T8 LEDs will qualify for incentives.

All LED products must be certified for use in Canada and appear on the DLC Qualified Products List.

Incentives are available under two tracks: PRESCRIPTIVE or CUSTOM
PRESCRIPTIVE CUSTOM
Select your project from a set list of measures, each with a corresponding incentive. For upgrades to existing equipment, the incentive amount depends on the type, efficiency and quantity of equipment installed. For measures not covered under either the PRESCRIPTIVE or ENGINEERED tracks, we offer incentives based on verified energy savings.

WHAT ARE THE INCENTIVES?

There are two levels of incentives providing up to 50% of project costs (100% of the material costs for the prescriptive track).

Your retrofit project could qualify for:
:
  PROJECT TYPES  PRESCRIPTIVE   CUSTOM

  Lighting
projects

  Per unit incentives

The greater of either, $400/kW of demand savings or $0.05/kWh of first year electricity savings (to a maximum of 50% of project costs)

  Non-lighting projects
  Per unit incentives

The greater of either, $800/kW of demand savings or $0.10/kWh of first year electricity savings (to a maximum of 50% of project costs)

+ HELPING YOU GET THE MOST FROM INCENTIVES
Consider starting with AUDIT FUNDING to uncover your greatest savings opportunities
Many businesses have found additional savings by first starting with the AUDIT FUNDING program, which covers up to 50% of the cost of an evaluation of your building's energy performance. A comprehensive energy audit can help you identify and prioritize your greatest energy savings opportunities.
