How can I pay by credit card?
You have two easy ways to pay your bill by Visa® or Mastercard® - online or by phone. Paymentus is our bill payment partner. They are a third-party payment processing service that accepts credit card payments. Starting on January 1, 2015, Paymentus will also accept payment by American Express®
- Online Payment: Make a secure online credit card payment. You will be transferred to Paymentus' secure website.
- Telephone Payment: Call 1-877-507-5093 to make a secure credit card payment using Paymentus' automated phone system.
Starting January 1, 2015, Paymentus will charge a service fee of $3.20 for each payment increment of $165. Hydro One retains no portion of this service fee.
Why is a service fee now being applied on credit card transactions?
In 2014 we temporarily absorbed the service fee that Paymentus applied to transactions given Visa Canada's service rules. We did this so Paymentus was able to continue to offer payment by Visa®. It was never our intention to permanently absorb the service fee on credit card transactions. This is a cost that unfortunately we can no longer absorb as it is not fair for our customers to subsidize credit card payments.
Why is a service fee charged when other industries do not charge?
Most merchants embed this fee in the price of their product or service. However, being a regulated utility, we do not include the processing fee in our approved rates and charges that we bill our customers. In order to be fair to all customers, we have to ensure that credit card users pay for the service. The service fee goes to our bill payment partner, Paymentus. No portion of this service fee goes to Hydro One.
What is a service fee?
It is a charge in addition to the original transaction amount for the convenience of being able to use your credit card. The service fee is charged by our bill payment provider, Paymentus. No portion of this fee is retained by Hydro One.

Will I incur any bank charges for paying by credit card?
TD and RBC credit card customers will incur a cash advance charge when they pay by credit card. Please check with your bank for details.
Why can’t I use my prepaid credit card to pay my bill?
Unfortunately, at this time our bill payment partner Paymentus cannot process prepaid Visa credit cards from TD or RBC. Paymentus is trying to get this issue resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Why are you offering credit card payment?
Our customers have been telling us they would like the option to pay their electricity bill by credit card. We have listened and are pleased to offer credit card payment.
May I pay by credit card anytime?
Yes, this convenient payment option is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What credit cards can I use?
Paymentus accepts payment by Visa® and Mastercard®.. Starting on January 1, 2015, Paymentus will also accept payment by American Express®.
What do I need to pay by credit card?
You will need to have your Hydro One bill to get your account number and the balance owed on your current bill. You will also need to have your credit card information handy.
When will Hydro One receive my credit card payment?
Payments made before 1 p.m. will be applied to your account the following business day. Payments made after 1 p.m. will be processed within two business days. To avoid a late payment charge, always make sure you allow up to five days for processing.
How will my payment be confirmed?
For each payment you make, you will receive a confirmation number. If you pay online, you will also receive an email confirmation for your records. Payments made before 1 p.m. will be applied to your account the following business day. Payments made after 1 p.m. will be processed within two business days. To avoid a late payment charge, always make sure you allow up to five days for processing.
Is there a maximum amount that I can charge to my credit card?
The maximum amount per transaction is $3,000. If your payment amount is greater than $3,000, you will need to process multiple transactions.
Can I set up recurring payments?
At this time, recurring payments cannot be scheduled through Paymentus.
How will this appear on my credit card statement?
Your credit card statement will show the amount paid to Hydro One for your energy account as Hydro One Networks. You will also see a separate line that shows the service fee paid to Paymentus.

MoneyGram is a money transfer service that allows you to safely and quickly send money. It is available at more than 5,000 Canada Post offices and some grocery and drug stores.
How does MoneyGram work?
By using MoneyGram you can pay your Hydro One bill at participating Canada Post locations using cash or a debit-card. In addition, some grocery and drug stores offer MoneyGram. Same-day bill payment service is $9.99 and next-day bill payment service is $3.99.

MoneyGram is available at participating Canada Post locations. In addition, some grocery and drug stores offer MoneyGram.
