How do I pay by credit card?

You can pay online through our bill payment partner, Paymentus’ website or if you prefer you may call Paymentus’ secure automated telephone system at 1-877-507-5093 to process your payment.

Why are you offering credit card payment?

Our customers have been telling us they would like the option to pay their electricity bill by credit card. We have listened and are pleased to offer credit card payment.

May I pay by credit card anytime?

Yes, this convenient payment option is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What credit cards can I use?

We accept payment by Visa and MasterCard.

What do I need to pay by credit card?

You will need to have your Hydro One bill and credit card information handy.

When will Hydro One receive my credit card payment?

Payments made before 1 p.m. will be applied to your account the following business day. Payments made after 1 p.m. will be processed within two business days. To avoid a late payment charge, always make sure you allow up to five days for processing.

How will my payment be confirmed?

For each payment you make, you will receive a confirmation number. If you pay online, you will also receive an email confirmation for your records. Payments made before 1 p.m. will be applied to your account the following business day. Payments made after 1 p.m. will be processed within two business days. To avoid a late payment charge, always make sure you allow up to five days for processing.

Is there a maximum amount that I can charge to my credit card?

Yes, the maximum amount per transaction is $3,000. If you payment amount is greater than $3,000, you will need to process multiple transactions.

Do I have to pay a service charge on my credit card transaction?

We want to continue to provide our customers with the option of using their credit cards to pay their bills despite changes to Visa’s credit card rules. While Hydro One explores solutions with Visa Canada, we will temporarily absorb all costs related to credit card payment processing.

What are the changes to Visa’s credit card rules?

Effective March 31 2014, Visa no longer allows a service fee to be charged on Visa transactions through a third-party bill payment supplier like Paymentus Corporation.

Why did I have to pay a service fee before?

The service fee was charged by our bill payment partner, Paymentus Corporation. Hydro One retained no portion of this fee. We are temporarily absorbing this cost to continue to provide this service to our customers.

How will this appear on my Credit Card Statement?

Your credit card statement will show the amount paid to Hydro One for your energy account as Hydro One Networks.


What is MoneyGram service?

MoneyGram is a money transfer service that allows you to safely and quickly send money. It is available at more than 5,000 Canada Post offices and some grocery and drug stores.

How does MoneyGram work?

By using MoneyGram you can pay your Hydro One bill at participating Canada Post locations using cash or a debit-card. In addition, some grocery and drug stores offer MoneyGram. Same-day bill payment service is $9.99 and next-day bill payment service is $3.99.
