Our children's electrical safety education (elementary students up to 13 years old) program is designed to educate children about ways to protect themselves from dangers posed by electrical facilities and encourage the safe use of electricity.
Electrical Safety Presentations
Hydro One has electrical service connections with over 1,000 elementary schools across Ontario. Our school presentations teach students how to use electricity safely. Our presenters use electrical hazard simulators such as the Hazard Hamlet (see photo, right). Safety booklets featuring our fictional "hero" Harry Hazard are distributed to students following school presentations. Download free copies of the booklets below:
Sponsorships and Partnerships
Hydro One supports community safety initiatives, such as the Children's Safety Village of London Area and the Community Safety Village of York Region. Opportunities such as these help us to reinforce the electrical safety messages we deliver in schools.
Hydro One has partnered with The Hospital for Sick Children to provide electrical safety information to children, parents, and health care providers through the use of computers. The Hospital for Sick Children has a public website called AboutKidsHealth, which is dedicated to the health and wellness of children and provides health information in formats appropriate to different age groups of children and to their parents.
