Project Need and Description
Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) has identified the need for a new 115-44kV transformer station (TS) to be located in the Township of Chapple. Currently, the communities between Fort Frances and Rainy River receive their electricity supply from Fort Frances TS, which is located approximately 45 km to the east.
Fort Frances TS is reaching its end-of-life and a new station is required to serve the area. Hydro One is proposing to build this new station midway between Fort Frances and Rainy River to address supply issues associated with the long distribution lines used to serve this area. This new station will also improve local electrical supply and provide more capacity to the area.
