Construction ProgressConstruction on the Bruce to Milton Project is underway. Hydro One together with Valard Construction, one of Canada's largest power line contractors, have started construction activities including selective tree clearing, the installation of temporary access roads, tower foundations and the assembly of towers along the Bruce to Milton route.

Construction activities began near the Bruce Power Facility. The sequence of construction activities is as follows:

 1. Selective vegetation clearing
 2. Access road construction
 3. Tower foundation installation
 4. Delivery of tower steel to foundation sites
 5. Assembly and erection of towers
 6. Stringing of conductors (wires)

To date, 55 towers are completely assembled near Tiverton and 265 towers are partially assembled. A total of 730 towers will be constructed for the Project. Beginning in May, crews will be stringing conductor where towers have been fully assembled and erected. Approximately 30 to 50 kilometres of conductor is expected to be strung by the end of the summer.
