May 10, 2011 | Minister of Natural Resources Issues Decision on Niagara Escarpment Commission Development Permit  The Minister of Natural Resources issued a decision granting Hydro One a Development Permit for construction on lands under the jurisdiction of the Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC), subject to Hydro One’s satisfying certain conditions. Hydro One was initially granted the conditional permit by the NEC in October 2009, but several individuals appealed that decision. The appeal hearing was conducted by the Niagara Escarpment Hearing Office from January to April 2010. The Hearing Officer who heard the appeal submitted his report to the Minister of Natural Resources on October 29, 2010, and the Minister issued her decision on May 10, 2011.

March 15, 2011 | Hydro One Receives Approval on Expropriation Application           
Hydro One received approval from the Ontario Energy Board  (OEB) for our application for the authority to expropriate interest in certain lands for the Bruce to Milton project (under section 99 of the Ontario Energy Board Act). In its decision, the OEB determined that the expropriations are in the public interest. This approval allows Hydro One to move forward through the expropriation process to acquire the remaining property rights required to construct the line. Read the decision here 

August 24, 2010 | Update on Expropriation Process
Hydro One has made significant progress in reaching voluntary agreements with landowners, and over 290 voluntary settlement agreements have been signed. In order to secure outstanding property rights, Hydro One has applied to the Ontario Energy Board for the authority to expropriate the remaining rights required. Property owners affected by the line were notified directly of this process and of the application. To ensure that those with a direct interest in one of the affected properties that is not registered on title would have full knowledge of the expropriations process, the Ontario Energy Board has directed Hydro One to run notices in local newspapers to provide information on how interested parties can participate in the expropriations process. Download the notice.

May 25, 2010 | Biodiversity Initiative Status Update on Opportunity Evaluation and Ranking
Prior to Workshop #4 held on May 21, 2010, Hydro One distributed to all individuals expressing an interest in the Biodiversity Initiative a draft report providing a status update for the evaluation and ranking of opportunities. The final report (1.5 MB), together with Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C (4.0 MB), Appendix D, Appendix E and Appendix F (1.2 MB), includes the screening and evaluation process, the ranking of selected potential opportunities, a description of the potential approaches to opportunity selection and a description of the planned steps moving forward.
