Farm Customers

2011 Delivery Rates — effective January 1, 2011

Delivery charges vary according to the customer rate classification or type of electric service you have on your farm.

The Farm rate classification has been eliminated as of January 1, 2011. If your account was previously under the Farm rate classification, it now falls under one of the rate classes below:

Farm customers with a primary residence have been moved to the Residential - Low Density rate classification. If you fall under this category, see your Residential delivery rates.

Farm customers without a primary residence have been moved to the General Service rate classification. If you fall under this category, see General Service delivery rates.

About Rural or Remote Rate Protection (RRRP)

Some farm customers with a year-round primary residence are eligible for Rural or Remote Rate Protection (RRRP). Under the Ontario Energy Board Act and associated regulations, qualifying year-round residences and farms with a principal residence are eligible to receive Rural or Remote Rate Protection (RRRP) if their service type is Residential - Low Density.

If your service type is Residential - Low Density (see page 2 of your bill) or you have declared your farm as having a year-round primary residence, the RRRP credit of $28.50 is applied against the distribution service charge found under the "Delivery" line on your bill. It’s meant to address the higher cost of serving rural customers relative to urban customers. The higher costs are related to serving a diverse customer base, a lower customer density, and a large and more varied geographic territory compared to municipal utilities.
