Student Awards William Peyton Hubbard Awards 2001 Winners
Akinwole is a Dean's Honour Roll scholar, a gifted athlete and very active in community work including volunteer coaching in High School and University and working as Results Coordinator for the Canadian Interscholastic Athletic Union Cross-Country Championships. He is also the first person to capture four gold medals at the Toronto High School City Track & Field Final. At university, he has continued to pursue athletics and has received an Award for Athletic Achievement from the University of Western Ontario.
Cecil, who was born in Canada but raised in Trinidad & Tobago, received all A+s in General Certificate in Education exams. Students in Trinidad & Tobago must take these demanding standard tests administered by Cambridge University. He also played in both his school and community steel orchestras and carried out the extra duties of being secretary for his community orchestra. He is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and the University of Toronto Entrepreneur Club. Recipients of the William Peyton Hubbard Awards receive a cash award as well as the opportunity to work for the summer at Hydro One in their chosen field. Hydro One is pleased that Cecil King has accepted our offer for employment and has joined our Telecom Operations Department, reporting to our Manager of Telecommunications. Hydro One congratulates Cecil and Akinwole on their achievements and wishes them both well in their future endeavours.
