She is organizer of the York Income Tax Clinic, Director of Corporate Development for Aiesec York, and copy editor of the York student newspaper. Tanza is also involved with many other activities in her community, including assisting young children with their homework as a tutor in the Neighbourhood Homework Club in St. Stephen's Church. Tanza has received a number of awards in the past, including the York University Entrance Scholarship, the Laval University French Language Bursary, and the Harry Jerome Award for Excellence in Academics. One of Tanza's goals is to be in a position in which she may be of further aid to her community while following the model example of William Peyton Hubbard.

Kai James accepts his award from Keith Hinkson of the Association of Black Employees of Ontario Hydro Successor Companies.
Kai James
Kai is in the Engineering Science program at University of Toronto. He is involved in numerous extracurricular and volunteer activities. Kai is Programs Director of the UofT chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). During his role as Director, he has established NSBE's inaugural school-wide debating competition.

Kai volunteers weekly as a tutor in Math & Science for students at a local inner city high school. He believes that this tutoring program helps the students with their studies and builds their confidence. It also promotes diversity in the engineering community.

To maintain his heath during his busy schedule, Kai is a member of a team in the UofT intramural basketball league.

Kai has been a recipient of many awards, including the Fulfilling the Legacy Scholarship from the National Society of Black Engineers, and the Harry Jerome Award for Excellence in Academics.

After completion of his Engineering degree, Kai plans on completing his Masters in Biomedical Engineering. His goal is to design and test electromechanical prosthetic devices such as artificial limbs.

Hydro One congratulates Tanza and Kai on their achievements and wishes them both well in their future endeavours.

The deadline for Application Form for the 2002 William Peyton Hubbard Awards is December 31.
