Hydro One is committed to preserving and protecting the environment. Towards this goal, we have developed and introduced several programs and actions.

One of the largest environmental issues we face is the management and destruction of PCBs. To date, we have decontaminated approximately six million litres of transformer oil and sent more than 3,000 metric tons of PCB contaminated material for destruction. All of our property is being assessed for potential contamination and sites that pose a public or environmental risk are being cleaned up.

In one of our efforts to encourage biodiversity, Hydro One foresters are involved in helping re-establish the bald eagle population on the north shore of Lake Erie.
