Archives Hydro One to Support the 2001 Canada Games London, ON (October 19th, 2000) - Hydro One wants to help carry the torch for the 2001 Alliance London Canada Summer Games. Hydro One Inc. was introduced today as a major sponsor of the Games, whose contribution will in part fund a torch relay. The "Hydro One 2001 Canada Summer Games Torch Relay" will begin in Ottawa, then split and follow three separate routes making its way across the province and be rejoined in London for the Games opening ceremonies August 11th, 2001. "It's important for us to be part of the 2001 Canada Games, and help support our Canadian athletes," said Eleanor Clitheroe, President and CEO. "Through the torch run, we want to bring the excitement of the Games to our Hydro One customers and communities that are spread across the province. We're also encouraging our employees to join in the torch run and show their support for the thousands of athletes from across the country who will compete in the communities of the London Alliance at the 2001 Canada Games." "We're pleased to welcome Hydro One to the Games family," said 2001 Canada Games Host Society Co-Chair Phil Bowman. "it will be a long time before the Canada Games make another stop in Ontario.
