Archives Hydro One preparations for Hurricane Isabel Toronto, September 18, 2003 - Hydro One Networks has all available crews on standby in anticipation of damage to its power delivery system by Hurricane Isabel. Staff are closely monitoring weather conditions, and high winds and heavy rain are expected to hit Ontario Friday afternoon. Regional "command" posts can be activated on a moment's notice and will co-ordinate restoration efforts in hard-hit areas. Lines, forestry and station maintenance crews are ready to be deployed from across Hydro One's system, and sufficient reserves of replacement equipment and materiel (e.g. poles, transformers, insulators, and conductor) are in place for distribution. The public is advised to stay well away from downed power lines.
