Hydro One crews ready to deal with storm

Toronto, January 26, 2004 - Hydro One crews are on stand-by and ready to report for duty should today's storm in southwestern Ontario cause power outages. The company's Customer Communications Centre is also on alert, and is ready to call in additional staff to handle any increase in customer phone calls. At this point, Hydro One has not experienced any outages related to the storm.

Environment Canada has issued winter storm warnings and storm watches for much of southwestern Ontario. Severe weather including heavy snow, with the possibility of freezing rain in some locations and high winds are expected to hit areas from Windsor to Toronto, and north of Lake Erie to the Bruce Peninsula.

These weather conditions can cause damage to electricity distribution systems. Hydro One Networks is closely monitoring the weather forecasts and is taking precautionary measures to prepare for the storm.

Customers who wish to obtain information on power outages that may occur should call our 24 hour Outage and Emergency number: 1-800-434-1235. Our customer agents will have the most up-to-date status on current outages across the province.

Hydro One Networks owns and operates the province-wide electricity transmission network and largest distribution system in Ontario that serves over one million end-use customers. Hydro One is wholly-owned by the provincial government.
