Archives Hydro One Responds to Blackout Task Force Report Toronto, April 5, 2004 - Tom Parkinson, President and CEO of Hydro One today responded to the release of the US-Canada Blackout Task Force Report. Hydro One experts participated extensively in the blackout investigation specifically providing a member to the Electricity Working Group and providing data and analysis to the investigation teams. "We support the recommendations of the Task Force and are pleased that steps are being taken to improve practices within US utilities," said Parkinson. "Hydro One is recognized as an industry leader for its reliability record and, as such, participated extensively with the Task Force." Many of the report's key recommendations address practices that are already employed at Hydro One. Prior to the blackout, Hydro One made substantive investments to maintain and upgrade reliability of the system. These investments paid dividends during the restoration period following the blackout. "Hydro One adheres to rules and standards that are among the most rigorous in North America," added Parkinson. "We have an excellent track record of system operation." Hydro One owns and operates Ontario's electricity transmission system
and the province's largest low voltage distribution system. Hydro One
is wholly owned by the province of Ontario. -30- For further information, please contact: Peter Gregg
