Archives Tom Parkinson appointed Chair of Canadian Electricity Association Dec. 6, 2004 - Tom Parkinson, President and CEO of Hydro One, has been appointed Chair of the Canadian Electricity Association for 2005. He will begin his term in January, 2005. "This appointment is indeed an honour, and I look forward to working with the Board and Management to represent the interests of the CEA and its members in the coming year," said Parkinson. "The CEA is delighted to welcome Tom Parkinson as Chair," explained outgoing Chair Michael Costello, President and Chief Executive Officer, British Columbia Transmission Corporation. "He has demonstrated outstanding leadership of Hydro One, and will be a tremendous asset as Chair of our organization." Parkinson joined Hydro One in 2001 as President and CEO of Hydro One Network Services and was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer in July 2002 and then President and CEO in January 2003. Prior to joining Hydro One he was President and CEO of NorthPower in Australia from 1995 through 2001. He was President and CEO of Oxley Electricity & Water from 1994 to 1995, and a senior executive with Illawarra Electricity from 1981 to 1994. He was with BHP Steel from 1977 to 1981. The Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) is the national forum and
voice of the electricity industry in Canada with the objective of contributing
to the regional, national, and international success of its members. Its
membership includes electric utilities across the country, major electrical
manufacturers and corporate consulting companies.
