Archives Hydro One to build separate line to Kincardine Hospital March 8, 2006 - Hydro One is investing about $100,000 upgrading electricity delivery reliability to the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Kincardine. The project involves building a half-kilometre long separate line to the hospital, fuse co-ordination on the circuits serving the area to reduce the number of customers impacted by an outage and speed up restoration, and extensive forestry/tree-trimming to minimize tree-related problems. Work is already underway on this project, and should be completed by the week of March 20. "This project will significantly upgrade supply reliability to the hospital," said Hydro One Lines Manager Ron Matthews. "It is a reflection of Hydro One's commitment to investing in its power delivery system and providing a high level of service to customers." Matthews also pointed out that tree damage accounted for the majority of outages affecting the hospital in the last year. The new direct feed will circumvent the section of line that runs through the heavily wooded area where tree damage occurred. Over the past five years Hydro One has invested about $4.5 billion in capital projects and maintenance to sustain and upgrade its high-voltage transmission and low-voltage distribution systems throughout the province. It plans to invest an additional $5.5 billion in system maintenance and upgrades over the next five years. Hydro One delivers electricity safely, reliably and responsibly to homes and businesses across the province of Ontario and owns and operates Ontario's 28,400 kilometre high-voltage transmission network that delivers electricity to large industrial customers and municipal utilities, and a 122,000 kilometre low-voltage distribution system that serves about 1.2 million end-use customers and smaller municipal utilities in the province. Hydro One is wholly owned by the Ontario Government. -30- For more information and to make arrangements for photography, contact
