Archives Hydro One spending $150,000 relocating power lines March 24, 2006 - Hydro One is spending about $150,000 to relocate about one kilometre of line along Highway 401 and Highway 2 in Woodstock to allow the Ontario Ministry of Transportation to reconstruct two overpasses at Towerline Road to provide safer access to the highway. The project began mid-March and is scheduled for completion in early April. The job includes off-road work which will be done with large track machines to install 40 foot high poles and conductor. Poles and wire are being delivered this week and off-road equipment is being transported to the work site next week. "Crews will be working 10 hours a day to finish the job quickly
and keep planned power outages to a minimum," explained Tim Stafford,
Beachville Customer Operations Manager. "This is an example of good
planning and execution working with the Ministry to minimize disruption
for residents." Hydro One delivers electricity safely, reliably and responsibly to homes and businesses across the province of Ontario and owns and operates Ontario's 28,400 kilometre high-voltage transmission network that delivers electricity to large industrial customers and municipal utilities, and a 125,000 kilometre low-voltage distribution system that serves about 1.3 million end-use customers and smaller municipal utilities in the province. Hydro One is wholly owned by the Ontario Government. -30- For more information and to make arrangements for photography, contact
