Hydro One teams up with the Coalition of Large Distributors to help businesses and the forest industry improve energy efficiency

Thunder Bay, October 4, 2006 — At an energy efficiency seminar for the forest industry, Hydro One announced a unified energy efficiency incentive program with the Coalition of Large Distributors (CLD) for businesses in Ontario.

Hydro One Networks' distribution customers include approximately 1.3 million homes or businesses across Ontario. The CLD, which includes Enersource Hydro Mississauga, Horizon Utilities Corporation, Hydro Ottawa Limited, PowerStream Inc., Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited and Veridian Connections, serves 1.7 million Ontario customers.

Collectively, Hydro One Networks and the CLD reach more than 70% of the electricity customers in Ontario.

This cooperative program offers businesses, forest industry and agricultural customers the opportunity to receive up to $50,000 in electricity conservation incentive funding for approved projects that result in measurable peak kW reductions.

Incentives are available for new, energy efficient equipment such as lighting, motors, transformers and air conditioners on a prescriptive basis. The program also offers custom incentives for projects that reduce peak loads.

"We're proud to partner with the CLD as it's the most efficient way to achieve the greatest result for the greatest number of people," said Giuliana Rossini, Hydro One's Conservation Officer. "This program will help electricity intensive industries like forestry conserve electricity and improve their bottom line."

The forestry sector is an important part of Hydro One's market so the company is offering special forestry customers incentives that fit their business. Hydro One's customers will be eligible for incentives to purchase energy efficient, forestry-specific equipment such as lighting controls and qualifying custom energy saving projects.

David McKendry, Director of Customer Service for Hydro Ottawa and a CLD representative said, "Since we first announced this program in October 2005 we have been pleased with the uptake. The recent changes to the program are in direct response to feedback from our customers who wanted to see more lighting products available on a prescriptive basis."

Customers should contact their respective utility for additional information on the program and how to apply. Hydro One customers should visit PowerSaver.ca and CLD utility customers should visit their utility website or powerWISE.ca.

Limited program funds are available on a first come, first served basis and application deadlines apply.
