Hydro One calls back Seasonal LED lights

November 24, 2006 — Following a Product Safety Alert from the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) and CSA International on GREENLITE – 36-Bulb Seasonal “LED” Light Strings, Hydro One is calling back all seasonal LED light strings it donated to communities in support of local seasonal light exchange programs. These included Sudbury, Owen Sound and Dryden.

The ESA in cooperation with CSA International is working with electricity distributors and Greenlite Lighting Corporation following reports of concerns regarding the GREENLITE product. This is the same brand of LEDs that Hydro One donated to communities. According to the ESA, to date, there have been no reports of injury or property damage involving this product. However due to possible safety concerns, Hydro One has decided to call back these lights and is warning people not to use them.

People who received Hydro One seasonal LEDs at a recent local event can call toll-free 1-800-851-0064 and provide their name and address so the company can send them a postage-paid mailing label to return the lights in exchange for a gift card. When Hydro One receives their lights it will send them a gift card of equivalent or higher value.

Hydro One is disappointed to have to call back these lights and regrets the inconvenience caused those who made the effort to participate in local conservation initiatives.
