Staff Support Habitat for Humanity Project in Listowel
Hydro One employees take pride in serving the communities where they live and work.
That was apparent earlier this year when the connection of a new home led to a charity donation of more than $600.
Habitat for Humanity built a new home in Listowel and enlisted Hydro One's help for the layout and connection work required to provide electricity to the property. Staff completed the work, but wanted to find a way to do more to help those in need.
Amy, an engineering technician, sought to find a way to cover the costs associated with the new connection work and raise money to support the construction. She reached out to coworker, Union Trades Supervisor 2, Shawne, to engage the Listowel Operations Centre charity fund.

The Listowel office runs an annual fundraising campaign and also collects money for charity at monthly safety meetings. Amy and Shawne brought this suggestion to the employees and all agreed to use the charity funds to support the Habitat for Humanity build.
The staff in Listowel also received a boost when staff at the Western Field Business Centre in Beachville also donated to the cause. Working together, staff were able to raise $640 to support this important local initiative.
