Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) is initiating a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to construct a line tap connection between Hydro One's existing 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line, Circuit H9K, and Yellow Falls Power Limited's (YFP) hydroelectric power station.

The proposed line tap connection would involve the replacement of four existing wood pole transmission structures with four new composite transmission structures, and six new composite tapping structures, as shown on the project map. We anticipate that most work will be completed within the existing transmission right-of-way and/or on land with YFP acquired property rights. Where possible, access to the structures will be gained using existing access roads and trails.

Project Location & Profile:

The line tap connection will be approximately seven kilometres west of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls, north of Highway 11. Please click here to view the project map.

Approvals:

The proposed Yellow Falls Line Tap Project is subject to the Class EA for Minor Transmission Facilities (Hydro One, 2016), in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Class EA is a streamlined process to ensure that transmission projects that have a predictable range of effects have feasible environmental mitigation and/or protection measures in place. The Class EA process contains screening provisions that may apply to this project.
