Our employees take pride in serving the communities where they live and work.

That was apparent earlier this year when the connection of a new home led to a charity donation of more than $600. Habitat for Humanity built a new home in Listowel and enlisted our help for the layout and connection work required to provide electricity to the property. Our team completed the work and looked for more ways to do more to help those in need.

Amy, an engineering technician, sought to find a way to cover the costs associated with the new connection work and raise money to support the construction. She reached out to her coworker, Union Trades Supervisor 2, Shawne, to engage the Listowel Operations Centre charity fund.

“I wanted to find a way to help this project,” said Amy.

“Habitat for Humanity plays an important role in helping the community and the customers we serve and I am proud my colleagues were able to play a small part in helping a family in need.”The Listowel office runs an annual fundraising campaign and also collects money for charity at monthly safety meetings. Amy and Shawne brought this suggestion to the employees and all agreed to use the charity funds to support the Habitat for Humanity build. The staff in Listowel also received a boost when staff at the Western Field Business Centre in Beachville donated to the cause.

Working together, staff were able to raise $640 to support this important local initiative.
