Rate relief

Ontario government extends off-peak pricing during COVID-19

Providing customers with rate relief

The Government of Ontario is providing a COVID-19 Recovery Rate for families, farms and small businesses who pay time-of-use prices. Customers will be billed a flat price of 12.8 cents per kWh, 24 hours a day, seven days a week from June 1 to October 31, 2020.

This change does not require customers on time-of-use prices to take any action, as it will be automatically applied to customers’ monthly bills.

The Government of Ontario has suspended time-of-use pricing to provide customers with greater stability and predictability with their electricity bills. Customers will be able to use electricity when they need it without paying on-peak and mid-peak prices. While Hydro One and other Ontario utilities are regulated to adhere to time-of-use pricing, Hydro One has been working with the industry and government to offer customers relief during this difficult time.

Hydro One’s Pandemic Relief Fund also offers increased payment flexibility and financial assistance to customers experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. To learn more about Hydro One’s Pandemic Relief Fund, visit www.HydroOne.com/ReliefFund.

Late payment fee suspension

Hydro One will also be temporarily suspending late payment fees for all customers until June 30, 2020.
