Spring is here and April is the start of another busy construction and gardening season. It is also designated as Dig Safe month in the Province of Ontario.

 

Whether you are planning to dig up your garden, installing a new fence or setting up for major excavation on your property, remember to Click Before You Dig to obtain locates for any underground infrastructure that may be in the area. The Dig Safe campaign raises awareness of safe digging practices that should be followed throughout the year and for all forms of excavation.

By clicking before you dig, you improve both public and worker safety and reduce damages to underground infrastructure.

How do you Dig Safe?

All property owners are required by law to obtain a locate before conducting any type of digging. A locate is a free service and is arranged for free by Ontario One Call. To complete your request for a locate, simply visit www.on1call.com or call 1-800-400-2255. Ontario One Call will notify all underground infrastructure owners in the vicinity of the dig area that a locate has been requested.


Common underground infrastructure can include but is not limited to: electricity wires, gas pipes, water mains and communication cables.
