Compressed air is not free

In industrial facilities, air compressors can account for a significant portion of energy costs. The good news is that by simply repairing leaks, you can save up to 50 per cent in annual energy costs. Keep systems well maintained to save an additional 10–20 per cent.

Cut energy costs in half with incentives for these upgrades:

Leak detection

Save energy with flow meters that detect air loss at the source.

Ancillary equipment

Air filters, valves, and no-loss drains can minimize air loss.

Air dryers

High-efficiency dryers work just as hard while using less energy.

Add variable frequency drives (VFDs) to control airflow and drive down costs.

Heat recovery ventilators (HRV) can capture and reuse up to 90 per cent of lost heat.

Maintain or replace piping to keep them airtight and reduce pressure loss.

Start by identifying the best place to save

An audit will uncover where you are wasting the most energy – and where you can save it.

  • Audit funding incentives pay up to 50 per cent of cost of the audit, up to $25,000

  • Get up to 100 per cent of the cost of preliminary or detailed engineering studies, up to $50,000

  • For non-capital projects, audit incentives are also available up to $5,000

Choose from two incentive streams:

Get paid for each individual measure you install:

  • VSD Compressor – $100/hp (up to 75 hp)

  • Variable Displacement Control – $80/hp (up to 75 hp)

  • Zero Loss Drains – $100/drain

Engineered / Custom

Incentives are based on verified energy savings – you will receive whichever is greater: either $800/kW of demand savings or $0.10/kWh of first year electricity savings (to a maximum of 50 per cent of project costs).
