To help customers during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Ontario announced it has made it easier for families to get the support they need to help pay their energy bills through the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP).

COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)

If you’re having difficulty paying your bill due to COVID-19, you may be eligible to receive a one-time credit on your Hydro One bill.

Any residential customer with an overdue electricity bill will now be eligible to apply to receive up to $750 to help cover their electricity bill. Newly eligible customers can apply for these enhanced benefits starting in January 2021.

The Government of Ontario is providing $9 million to support residential customers struggling to pay their energy bills as a result of COVID-19. The COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is delivered directly by electricity and natural gas utilities, further to rules laid out by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).

CEAP is a one time, on-bill credit for eligible residential electricity and natural gas customers to help them catch up on their energy bills and resume regular payments.
