Who can apply?

The Home Assistance program is based on tenant income eligibility and building type.

To participate:

  • You must own or manage: fully/semi-detached houses, townhouses, mobile homes, units in a duplex, triplex or other multi-residential building

  • Your units must be sub-metered;

  • Your tenants must pay their own hydro bills;

  • Your tenants must meet income eligibility requirements

Income eligibility requirements

Tenants must qualify in one of the following ways:


1.  Household Income

Total gross household income for last year that is not more than these income levels: 

1 Person:

$32,843

2 People:

$40,886

3 People:

$50,266

4 People:

$61,028

5 People:

$69,217

6 People:

$78,065

7 or More:

$86,914

OR

2. Social Assistance Benefit

Currently receives or has received one of the following in the past 12 months:

  • Ontario Electricity Support Program credit

  • Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) grant

  • National Child Benefit Supplement

  • Allowance for Seniors

  • Allowance for the Survivor

  • Guaranteed Income Supplement

  • Ontario Works

  • Ontario Disability Support Program

  • Healthy Smiles Ontario Child Dental Program

  • A natural gas low-income DSM program
