Project components include:

Building a new 230 kilovolt (kV) transformer station (TS) located on the facility’s property
Installing two new junction stations – which will help transition power from an overhead transmission line to an underground cable – within the existing Hydro One transmission line corridor, east of Islington Avenue and Rexdale Boulevard
Installing two new underground 230 kV transmission line cables between the new junctions and the new TS

On-going construction

As a part of the project we are installing two new underground 230 kV transmission line cables. This project will include closing roads and lanes as the crew will need to excavate and trench along the route path for initial equipment installation. The timeframes below are based on our current knowledge of the project and site working conditions.

Final construction activities will take place on Conan Rd, Allenby Ave, Burrard Rd., Chilcot Ave, and at the Rexdale Blvd. and Silver Reign Dr. intersection from mid-May intermittently to the end of August. This includes repairing the roads, curbs, and sidewalks followed by cable testing for the month of September. During this time, motorist can expect small single lane closures from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

Important information

Please be advised that sidewalk closures may occur in the construction areas noted above. Alternative routes and signage will be posted around the closed areas for pedestrians.

Project route

Since the Class EA was initiated, Hydro One has been reviewing environmental and technical data and collected feedback on the study area shared in 2022. Based on this analysis and information, we have now selected a project route.
