Ontario Electricity Rebate - Definitions
Unless otherwise noted, the following definitions are from the Regulation, as amended:
"common elements", in respect of a multi-unit complex, means any part of the multi-unit complex that is not a unit
"farming business" refers to a consumer that:

carries on a business that is a farming business for the purposes of the
Farm Registration and Farm Organizations Funding Act, 1993, and
-
holds a valid farm business registration number assigned under that Act or the consumer's obligation to file an application for a farming business registration number was waived pursuant to an order made under subsection 22(6) of that Act.
"long-term care home" means a long-term care home within the meaning of the
Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021
"mobile home" means a dwelling that is designed to be made mobile and that is being used as a permanent residence (Residential Tenancies Act, 2006)
"mobile home park" means the land on which one or more occupied mobile homes are located and includes the rental units and the land, structures, services and facilities of which the landlord retains possession and that are intended for the common use and enjoyment of the tenants of the landlord (Residential Tenancies Act, 2006)
"multi-unit complex" is defined as a building or related group of buildings containing two or more units, and that is not ineligible as described below
"qualifying unit" is defined for OER purposes as a unit that,
-
consists of a self-contained room or set of rooms,
-
contains kitchen and bathroom facilities that are for the sole use of the unit, and
-
is occupied and used as a residence
"retirement residence" means a multi-unit complex that meets the following requirements but is not a long-term care home:

At least 50 per cent of the units in the multi-unit complex are occupied or intended to be occupied as a permanent residence by at least one person who is 65 years of age or older and who is not related to the operator of the multi-unit complex.

The total number of persons referred to in paragraph 1 who occupy or are intended to occupy the total number of units described in that paragraph is at least six.
"unit" means:

A unit as defined in the
Condominium Act, 1998,
-
A residential unit or a rental unit, as those terms are defined in subsection 2 (1) of the
Residential Tenancies Act 2006,

A member unit or a non-member unit, as those terms are defined in the
Co-operative Corporations Act, or
-
Premises that is a demised premises for the purposes of the
Commercial Tenancies Act.
"unit" does not include a unit that is used or intended for parking or storage purposes or for the purpose of providing space for services, recreation or other facilities or mechanical installations.
