Why is Scouts Canada a great partner?

Scouting gives kids something to look forward to and a sense of belonging, allowing them to have fun while challenging them to get outside, experience adventure and build resilience. Scouts Canada is the country’s leading co-ed youth organization, offering programming for children and youth aged 5-26 in multiple languages, reflecting Canada’s multicultural landscape and communities.

Hydro One and Scouts Canada have teamed up to extend their culture of safety, healthy activity and vibrant family life to communities across the country. Together we’ve developed new resources and programming to help educate kids and families how to play safe and prevent injuries.

Dream big and pitch an adventure for you and your Scouters to receive a dollar amount to put towards the adventure of a lifetime.

Level up your next adventure in 2022

Hydro One teamed up with Scouts Canada to create the Grizzly Den adventure program. This is a unique opportunity for Scout Sections in Ontario to take their adventures to the next level.

The goal of Grizzly Den is to think big, real big! This isn’t your weekend camping trip or park clean-up. This program is all about next level adventures.

Head Safe Program

Launched in fall of 2019, the Head Safe program provides Ontario communities with training and educational materials aimed at preventing head injury, with engaging digital resources also available for Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Through the program, youth will learn head injury first aid, role play on how to respond to real-life scenarios, and gain understanding of key preventative measures and the necessary steps toward recovery before a safe return to play.

Kids need 60 minutes of daily outdoor activity

Outdoor recreational activities are a great way to discover new experiences, make memories together and support overall personal well-being. According to Scout Canada's Guide to Resilient Children, outdoor play has been proven to offer a multitude of physical, mental and social benefits for children.

“As Scouts, we are committed to strengthening communities in any way possible. Due to the pandemic, a great number of Canadian families are facing disruptions to their daily routines; they are spending increased time at home and children are missing much-needed opportunities to play and interact with their friends. With the support of Hydro One, we have created the Activity Finder, a free and accessible resource for families seeking fresh ideas to engage, challenge and inspire their kids all while being physically active and exploring the great outdoors.”

— Andrew Price, Executive Commissioner and CEO, Scouts Canada
