Severe Weather Warning: High winds in Central and Eastern Ontario expected. Learn more on our outage map

Hydro One is continuing restoration efforts in impacted areas and wish to thank all of our customers for their support and patience. Learn more in our news release and outage map.

It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that one of our employees passed away from injuries sustained on the job this week while doing forestry work in the Minden area. Three other employees were treated in hospital and have been released.

We are deeply saddened by this loss and, above all else, our thoughts and condolences are with the employee’s family, friends and colleagues. During this difficult time, we will do everything we can to assist our employees and their families, by providing counselling and support.

The safety of our employees is paramount and Hydro One will fully support the Ministry of Labour in its investigation into the incident.

We would like to thank the first responders and our employees onsite for their brave efforts.

We’re continuing to assess damage caused by yesterday's wind storm and are preparing for more potential outages across the province as high winds continue.

Our new outage prediction tool is forecasting that the high winds that started yesterday will continue today and could cause hundreds of outages across Ontario. Our crews have moved into position in the hardest-hit areas and are currently assessing damage in order to quickly and safely restore power to affected customers. An estimated time of restoration will be determined for each outage once damage has been assessed.

We prioritize emergencies and restoration in such a way that brings power back to the largest number of customers in the shortest period of time.

Staying safe

If the power system in your area is affected by bad weather, be sure to stay clear of any fallen power lines. If you spot a fallen line, keep at least 10 metres back, even if it does not appear to be live. Report it to the police and call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

Household preparedness

It is critical to ensure that you and your family are prepared in case of an extended power outage caused by severe weather. Be ready with an emergency preparedness kit.
