Overview

We are planning to relocate approximately 25 kilometres of the line between Chalk River Junction (JCT) in the township of Laurentian Hills and Petawawa JCT in Petawawa.

The relocation of the line will allow crews to safely perform refurbishment work on equipment nearing the end of its service life and minimize impacts to military activities.

We are reinitiating the project Class Environmental Assessment for Transmission Facilities (Hydro One, 2024), in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act for this project.

Since fall 2021, Hydro One has collected environmental and technical information, as well as conducted a detailed constraints analysis to refine the proposed route.

Environmental assessment process

The D6 Relocation Project is subject to an environmental assessment process, in accordance with the requirements of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The environmental assessment will evaluate and determine a preferred route and assess the potential effects of the project.

Draft Environmental Study Report (ESR)

The 30-day review and comment period for the draft Environmental Study Report is now open.

Start date: February 13, 2026 - End date: March 15, 2026

Hydro One values community input and will carefully consider all comments. Any concerns raised will be addressed before the ESR is finalized and submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). Once complete, the final ESR will be posted here.
