Region Overview

Since the recent acquisition of Great Lakes Power (now Hydro One Sault Ste. Marie), this region is now solely supplied by Hydro One. The region supplies four distribution companies namely Chapleau PUC, Hydro One Networks Inc, PUC Distribution and Algoma Power Inc. The regional transmission system connects with provincial grid at Wawa TS and Mississagi TS, north of Thessalon.

Current Status

The second Regional Planning cycle for this region was completed with publishing of the RIP report in October 2021. It is expected that the Third Regional Planning cycle will be initiated in 2024 or earlier with the completion of the Needs Assessment report.
