Caregiving Matters is helping 1,200 rural and isolated seniors with new virtual safety programming
Energizing Life recipient continues to strengthen their community
The pandemic has made our world shrink over the past 18 months, which has been especially isolating for seniors. Our Energizing Life recipient, Caregiving Matters is responding to these pressing needs with new virtual programming.
The project will educate and engage 1,200 seniors to make their lives physically and emotionally safer, during and after the pandemic.
The programming focuses on 4 safety cornerstones:
Elder abuse prevention, identity theft, Internet and password safety. Learning how to recognize, stop and report potential abuses.
Safe aging in place: Encouraging safe and healthy aging in place, including topics such as: Improving home safety, modifications, decreasing hoarding, fall prevention and more.
Safety in the community: Educating on a variety of safety tips for pedestrians and drivers.
Safety technologies: Educating on new safety technologies available, such as security cameras, emergency medical alert buttons, electronic pill reminders, and more.
As a virtual organization, Caregiving Matters is a place where people can “go to” and speak with professionals while connecting with others who may be in the same situation. They’re strengthening communities across Ontario by helping seniors feel and stay safe.
