This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the incredible women we work with all year round, embracing equity and equality inside and outside of the workplace. Meet Mackenzie Gillan, a Power Lines Apprentice at Hydro One, who in October 2022 made history as the first women apprentice to podium at the International Linesman’s Rodeo in Kansas, US. The rodeo hosts the best of the best lines women and men across North America as they compete line related challenges.
Power line technician isn't a female dominated trade by any means, but it is definitely doable. If I could go back and talk to a younger me, I would definitely tell myself to be more confident and to not care what other people think.
