Planning to meet central Ottawa's electricity needs

Project Overview

To support the growing electricity needs of the central Ottawa area, we are working with Hydro Ottawa to upgrade our transmission infrastructure to increase capacity to supply electricity to central Ottawa.

This project will involve upgrading the existing 115 kV transmission line between Overbrook Transformer Station on Coventry Road and Balena Park in the Riverview neighbourhood by adding a second 115 kV circuit (three wires).

To plan this work, we are undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment (see approvals section below), that will include plenty of opportunities for public involvement.

The Overbrook to Riverview Transmission Line Upgrade project was recommended by the IESO’s Integrated Regional Resource Plans (IRRP) as a near term action to help address this need for additional capacity.
