Safety is our number one priority and we want to help make safety a focus in the communities we serve. To achieve this, we consider donations up to $25,000 for projects or initiatives that meet our grant criteria.

Our Safe Community grants provide support for initiatives that aim to improve the safety and quality of life in the communities we serve.
To find out if you qualify, view the map below of our service territories. If your initiative will enhance the safety and security of your community, we want to hear about it. Complete our online form to submit your application.

  • The applicants have the support of local government

Examples of projects that we will consider include:

  • The replacement of dangerous equipment in community playgrounds and recreational facilities

  • Enhancing safe access to community facilities

Application Information

Applications can be submitted at any time and will be reviewed when submitted. Due to demand, the Safe Community budget may be depleted before the end of the fiscal year. If this happens, submitted requests will be considered in the next fiscal year.

The review and decision-making process may take up to 60 to 90 days from the date of submission.

In the event an application is approved and funding is committed but the project is unable to proceed immediately, we will provide a letter of support to the grantee indicating our support and promised funding for the project. Your group may hold committed funds for a maximum of 12 months. Should the project not be able to move forward in that time, our funding commitment will be withdrawn.

Tips for a successful grant application:
  • Develop a plan for your project

  • Break your project plan into phases or small components

  • If we are unable to fund your entire project, we may be able to support one or more phases or pieces of it

  • Consult with vendors/suppliers. Show suppliers your plan and incorporate their feedback

  • Prepare a project budget based on your plan and the cost estimates you have received

  • Compare your plan and budget against our eligibility criteria. Proposals that meet our criteria have a better chance of being funded.

  • Be patient. Depending when you apply, it may take several months to hear back from us.
