Planting S.E.E.D.S for the future
With COVID-19 impacting childcare services, we’re providing caregivers with tools and resources to help families thrive
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, additional pressure has been put on families and the educators responsible for children’s care and development. Although many office workers have shifted to working from home, daily childcare services for frontline and essential workers is more important than ever before.
We’re supporting the Simcoe Early Education Development Centre (S.E.E.D.S) as they meet COVID-19 challenges head-on with an innovative program designed to support parents, their children, and skilled classroom educators. The organization provides safety and mental health training for educators, and safe play spaces for children.
Lelia Irwin, Executive Director of S.E.E.D.S, shares the impact of Hydro One’s support on educators and the children they care for.
“All of those educators who participated are going to touch many children’s lives; and those relationship skills will make a difference in their lives from childhood to adulthood.”

S.E.E.D.S was also able to purchase new equipment for outdoor play spaces through our support, providing children the opportunity to learn with more creativity, fresh air, and fewer restrictions.
As part of our commitment to building safe communities, we feel a deep responsibility to energize life and support Ontario organizations as they overcome current challenges to meet the needs of families and essential workers.
