To support the growing energy demands within Ontario, the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) offers various programs for small and large businesses looking to invest in energy-efficient operational improvements. Whether it’s a major renovation or equipment upgrades, these incentives can help your business save money and conserve energy.
For questions about the programs, email Conservation@HydroOne.com.
Get financial incentives to upgrade equipment that will lower energy costs, improve productivity and support your business’s sustainability goals.
Businesses can save on operating costs, speed up payback on equipment upgrades, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower demand on the electricity grid.
Eligible upgrade examples: HVAC chillers, pumps, motors and fans, heat pumps, solar photovoltaic (PV), horticultural lighting or building automation and more.
Eligible customers: Commercial, industrial, agricultural and institutional facilities across Ontario.
Get up to $1.5 million for large-scale energy efficiency projects through a simple pay‑for‑performance model for industrial, municipal, institutional and healthcare sectors.
This program includes feasibility study funding up to 50% of the cost, project incentives of $300/MWh up to 75% of eligible project costs, with a maximum of $15 million per project.
Eligible projects must:
• Involve an energy‑efficiency improvement applied to, or in support of, an industrial process. • Propose a minimum electricity savings of 600 MWh per year. • Use technology that is commercially available and not excluded by the program eligibility rules. • Be completed within five years of the execution date of the Participant Agreement.

Once you’ve found a participating distributor, provide your installation address and business name when purchasing eligible lighting equipment. Your discount will be applied at checkout with no paperwork required.
Eligible upgrade examples: LED lighting products, fixtures and controls.
Eligible customers: Commercial, agricultural, industrial, institutional and multi‑unit residential buildings and facilities across Ontario.
Grow your business through incentives of up to $3,000 for eligible lighting products and up to $2,500 for other energy‑efficient equipment.
This offer includes free installation by qualified contractors.
Eligible upgrade examples: Lighting, refrigeration and smart thermostats.
Eligible customers: Small businesses with 50 employees or less across Ontario.
Get funding to hire and train your own energy management team to help maximize energy performance and increase competitiveness.
Businesses can receive tailored energy management support to meet sustainability goals, optimize operations, extend equipment life and increase profitability. Eligibility for the program’s various incentive offers is based on a minimum annual total energy consumption (all fuels) for industrial facilities and total electrical consumption for commercial and institutional facilities.
Hire an energy manager: Receive funding to hire a dedicated energy manager into your organization, covering up to 50% of their salary up to a maximum of $100,000 per facility per year.
Strategic energy management (SEM): Participate in expert-led coaching, cohorts and curriculum to identify and implement long-term energy‑saving opportunities. Unlock additional incentive opportunities for achieving energy savings and meeting key milestones.
Energy management information systems (EMIS): Eligible industrial facilities can receive funding up to $250,000 for the installation of an energy management system, including free EMIS training to sustain operational savings by recognized education providers.
Eligible customers: Industrial, commercial and institutional facilities connected to the IESO‑controlled grid or distribution system in Ontario.
Get incentives to hire commissioning experts and boost energy savings through improved commercial facility operations and maintenance (O&M).
Incentives are available for investigation and implementation of operational and behavioural improvement opportunities to reduce a building’s energy waste, enhance employee comfort and increase profitability.
Eligible improvement examples: Reduce equipment runtime, eliminate leaky valves, optimize setpoints, ventilation rates, and pressure control of fans and pumps, and more.
Eligible customers: Ontario-based commercial and institutional facilities consuming 750,000 kWh per year.
Pay‑for‑performance rewards for making changes that increase energy savings over time, reduce your operating costs and improve productivity.
