The preliminary study area, or Route Selection Study Area, was identified based on several factors. These factors include pre-determined start and end points (connection points) as specified by the IESO, having sufficient geographical area that would allow for a range of potential alternatives and consideration of key physical, and natural and socio-economic features in the area. The Route Selection Study Area was refined as the Terms of Reference process progressed.

Refined Route Selection Study Area

The Refined Route Selection Study Area was developed with the information collected to date and feedback gathered through workshop processes held with government agencies, non-government organizations and Indigenous communities. This refined area represented the lands that were considered to be more suitable for a new transmission line and was used to guide the identification of the alternative routes.
