Waasigan Transmission Line Project

Since April 2019, we’ve sought feedback and completed studies to identify and evaluate several alternative routes as part of the environmental assessment to select a preliminary preferred route. Input from Indigenous leadership and communities, agencies and the public has been crucial, as well as environmental, technical, and other considerations, in determining the preliminary preferred route for the new line.

Alternative routes were identified within the Refined Route Selection Study Area and made available for review and input during the draft Terms of Reference review period.

The Refined Route Selection Study Area was developed with the information collected to date and feedback gathered through workshop processes held with government agencies, non-government organizations and Indigenous communities. This refined area represented the lands that were considered to be more suitable for a new transmission line and was used to guide the identification of the alternative routes.
